Description
The proposal resolves the new Can Roca High School in Terrassa and satisfy the demands of the Education Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
The building is located at the highest level, locating the main building volume, with the intention of offering the best views, dominion and sunniness of the school premises and free up the maximum area of remaining patio space in relation to the Rosa Turu Square.
The lot is surrounded by urban roads on three sides and makes part of the neighboring building with a future sanitary equipment. This arrangement guarantees a very easy accessibility and visibility from the three streets. The main entrance is located at the confluence of the Rosa Turu square with the Ferran Casablanca Street offering the most important urban free space in the area.
This arrangement allows segregating the main areas of the Center, north-south oriented, gymnasium, changing rooms and patio services that are located on the east side in the future neighboring building, connected with the other rooms by a porch.
The functional resolution of the center is distributed in ground floor and two levels, which allows the optimization of circulations, spaces and their relationships, as it separates clearly the cycles of ESO and Baccalaureate. All common support classrooms are located on the ground floor and second floor.
It proposes a modular construction in wood in the upper volume of the classroom of ESO and Baccalaureate, supported in a ground of common uses made of armed cement since it protects the building of the zones of greater traffic and games of the children.
