Description
The building proposed adopts a linear form parallel to the square in a north-south direction, in accordance with the mandatory alignment determined by the Ezkaba Joint Plan. Its distribution in two volumes arises from the needs program: the classrooms are concentrated in the largest piece, while the rest of the rooms are located in an independent pavilion communicated with the principal through a glazed passage. In this way, the classrooms for children, the dining room and the administrative area are arranged on the ground floor for a better functioning of the center; and the primary schools are divided between the first and second height.
A compact volumetric building is designed to reduce its energy consumption. Likewise, the simplicity of the routes is distinguished by the spaces served and the servants by circulations that favor both comfort and quality, as well as evacuation in case of fire. On the other hand, the expansion of the school could be carried out without interfering in the school year, given its linear growth and its situation next to the access road. As for the materials, these contribute to remarking a certain degree of abstraction in the proposal. In this way blind brick is used, whereas the main elevations are entrusted to a skin of corrugated sheet that underlines the horizontality of the volume, while producing a certain vibration in the facade.
The main access is from the square, a space of marked urban character and of great amplitude. Next to this, a covered porch is projected which, in addition to signifying it, allows a protected entrance to the same and leads to a glass-covered windbreak.
