Description

The project is based on the creation of the Third Hospital of Malaga, located next to the Civil Hospital.

The topography knowledge and the surrounding streets, have enable to have different accesses in different levels. This fact makes the internal circulation of the hospital extremely efficient, avoiding crossings between the patient, medical personnel and services.

The new building allows the maximum connectivity with the adjacent hospitals through covered passages that link it with the civil hospital (to the east) and with the maternal and child hospital (to the north) through an overpass. This connectivity guarantees the integrated operation of the three buildings, putting the new hospital in the center.

The fundamental project act of the projectl is the urban square, like the heart project. This landscaped patio allows
creating a friendly access to the hospital, with character and urban scale, which follows the architectural tradition of the area.
The access to the patio is through a covered atrium, in twilight, which in its central part is overhead illuminated through an open sky, allowing the natural light. This large space concentrates all the accesses for extern-consultations, teaching and research and the emergency services, diagnostic imaging, day hospital and finally access to the CMA (Major Ambulatory Surgery), the surgical area and the ICU.
